STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to attend Big 12 Media Days in Frisco, TX July 7-8, with head coach Eric Morris bringing four players with him. There really should be no surprise the four players will be quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins, defensive lineman Jaleel Johnson and linebacker Ethan Wesloski.
Johnson is the lone player who return from the previous team, with the trip of Mestemaker, Hawkins and Wesloski coming to Stillwater with Morris.
There will also be two former OSU players who will be with their respective teams in DB Lyrik Rawls with Arizona State and WR Jaden Bray with West Virginia.
While coach Morris has done some media throughout the spring and offseason, with both local and national media, this will be his first Media Days in the Big 12. While there’s no doubt Texas Tech will be highly sought after interviews, I believe OSU and Morris will be next on the list.
This is the first time in more than 20 years OSU will have a new head coach. The entire coaching staff is completely different, and the roster is nearly completely different as well. But Morris is one of the best young coaches in the game. He had a ton of success at North Texas and everywhere else he’s been. He brought some of his best players with him to Stillwater from Denton and not only has more money to spend than he has but has more money than any OSU team has ever had.
While there isn’t too much to learn from Big 12 Media Days other than some coach speak, I’m looking forward to this one more than any other I’ve been too.
