Brett Yormark Announced Historic Jersey Partnership With Monster Energy

FRISCO, TX – While we at Pokes Report won’t be seeing a dime from the partnership between the Big 12 and Monster Energy, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark made a pretty big announcement during his opening remarks at Big 12 Media Days. 

Along with the partnership with Monster Energy comes a first in the industry in that all football and basketball uniforms will feature Big 12/Monster Energy patches. 

The two biggest and most exposed sports in America will now feature corporate logos. That should mean a pretty decent influx in more cash for member schools, with each school receiving an extra $1 million.

“The global nature of who they are aligns with our global aspirations,” Brett Yormark said. “Monster Energy is sold in approximately 159 countries. During the regular season Big 12 Football, men’s and women's basketball will be branded as Monster Energy Big 12 Football and Monster Energy Big 12 Basketball for all conference-controlled assets and platforms. A co-branded Monster Energy and Big 12 Conference logo will be featured on football and basketball jerseys, fields and courts, with additional integration across conference digital and social media channels.”

This news comes a few weeks after Oklahoma State announced an athletic department-wide jersey patch deal with the Osage Nation. We’re rapidly approaching a time where corporate logos and corporate money will be at the forefront of college athletics.
